"Koku Anyidoho Owes No One An Apology"

A member of the ruling NDC, Chris Ackumey, has lashed out at a member of the National Peace Council, Maulvi Wahab Adam over what he termed his hypocrisy in the condemnation of politicians in the country. Maulvi Adam described comments made by Koku Anyidoho, Director of Communications at the Presidency, to the effect that government will deal ruthlessly with some leading members of the opposition NPP if they dare make wrong moves in the run up to election 2012 as unfortunate. He said people in high office ought to be more responsible and circumspect in their utterances in order to maintain the peace currently being enjoyed in Ghana. Speaking on Citi Fms Current Affairs program, The Big Issue, lawyer Ackumey said Anyidoho owes no one an apology over those comments. He said the caution statement by Maulvi Adams smacked of hypocrisy. These religious leaders must remember that they are leaders of churches, so they should not arrogate to themselves that because they are bishops of a catholic church or because they are heads of a Muslim Mission, they can command people who say these things, he said. Hes just a Ghanaian like myself and I disagree totally with him. I see an element of bias. This is the hypocrisy which I am condemning. Ackumey added: Hypocrisy is the word for people who close their eyes on other wrong doings and condemn others. We have been in this country, Nana Akufo-Addo said all die be die, did I hear him [Maulvi Wahab Adam]?
