Samia Goes For Police Protection

A scary Samia Yaba Nkrumah, the National Chairperson of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), is now under a 24-hour police protection, the Today newspaper has discovered. The papers findings were confirmed at a CPP press conference on Tuesday this week when a strong police contingent of about thirty-five (35) were spotted guarding the CPP chairlady and some other officers at the partys headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra. Today discovered at the conference grounds that Hon. Samia Nkrumah, who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, asked for police protection, fearing that she could incur the wrath of some CPP supporters who did not take kind to her insult of the partys flag-bearer for the 2008 presidential election, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom. The crowded-press conference briefing by Samia was supposed to deal with the growing agitations by some executive members and others who form the National Executive Committee of the CPP to call for the opening of nominations for both presidential and parliamentary primaries of the CPP before the end of the year. Unlike previous CPP press conferences, a truck loaded with police officers arrived at the CPP headquarters around 8:30 am and were deployed at the entrance of the main gate of the partys headquarters.
