Vodafone Renovates A.M.E Zion Kindergarten School In Pokuase

Employees of Vodafone Ghana, an operating company of Vodafone plc, have once again demonstrated their commitment and passion to making a difference in the lives of the people in the community in which they operate by renovating the A.M.E Zion Kindergarten School in Pokuase for the children in the community. The renovation of the Pokuase A.M.E Zion Kindergarten School which was undertaken by the Information Technology Department of Vodafone Ghana included a refurbishment of the kindergarten block, a replacement of wooden windows with louvre blades and the provision of 60 chairs and 40 tables for the pupils, replacement of damaged roofing sheets, plastering of walls, construction of a staircase, ceiling of two classrooms blocks, among others. Other donated items included 100 pieces of Friday wear (sporting kits), 300 pieces of exercise books, 100 packs of crayons, 150 pieces of string drawn bags, 60 footballs, 100 pieces of pencils, 100 packs of rice and drinks, etc. for the pupils. The Vodafone employees also provided the school with six computers, 20 computer chairs and signage to the school and have started the construction for a computer lab. Employee volunteerism is part of the Vodafone Ghana Foundation�s initiative that allows Vodafone employees to devote paid time to community projects of their choice and, further gives employees the opportunity to share a wealth of knowledge, skills, talent and immense goodwill by scouting their communities and identifying projects that will improve other people�s lives, under their Seek, Identify and Support Programme (SIS). After settling on a project to undertake, Vodafone employees then make various financial contributions towards the achievement of the project. The Pokuase A.M.E Zion Kindergarten school renovation project which started about a year ago is the second educational project to be undertaken by Vodafone staff.
