The National Union of Ghana Students� (NUGS) since its establishment in 1965 has had profound memories of the rein of former Presidents of this country especially President John Kufuor during his two terms of eight (8) years of his NPP-led-administration.
There comes a time when man disagrees with one another based on principles with the interest of constituents in mind and NUGS acknowledges this in our relationship with Former President Kufuor. There have been times during his rein that the Union has shown disagreement to one policy or the other.
However, we have learnt to carry on because for fifty-four (54) years of the existence of modern Ghana the good people have learnt to carry on irrespective of our hardships that are constant in our lives.
As you celebrate today Thursday, 8 December, 2011 marking your birthday, know that the Union we love (NUGS) stands with you and shares your legacies and achievements with the world.
NUGS is convinced that a legacy like yours is worth savoring.
During your administration, you have by your deeds demonstrated that, a system of government like ours are not maintained by insults but on the belief of the people in the merits and sincerity of those who administer and promote the public interests.
Your desire to feed the hungry in Ghana and the African continent at large earned you an enviable award this year along side former President of Brazil Lula Da Silva.
NUGS wants to use this day to call on the governments of Africa to show the touch of love for the citizens of Africa and deliver the public goods on which they campaigned. Your attitude of unconcern does not inspire the youth of today�s Africa who are replete with marvelous legacies of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, Patrice Lumumba of Zaire and Julius Nyerere of Tanzania etc.
Africa will win the future with inspirational leadership that delivers the public goods
