Vice President Orders IGP To Hunt For 'Missing' Cocaine Suspects

Vice President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday called on the Inspector General of Police and the entire Police Administration to carry out thorough investigations into the case in which a quantity of cocaine that was being kept in police custody in Accra has turned into sodium bicarbonate. He said Government had put in place adequate measures to eliminate the drug menace in the country and would therefore not countenance individuals or groups of persons who would sabotage the progress so far made. Vice President Mahama made this call when he presented 35 four- wheel drive vehicles made up of 10 Toyata pick-ups and 25 Toyota SUVs to the police administration at the State House Accra. Vice President Mahama said it was shocking that the police who were supposed to be the custodians of legal evidence could not account for the missing cocaine and urged the Police Administration to work hard to bring the culprits to book.
