It's Rubbish Papa Tells Woyome

Former Interior Minister under the erstwhile Kufuor-administration, Papa Owusu-Ankomah has ridiculed claims by leading member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alfred Woyome that he (Owusu-Ankomah) and the government planned but failed an assassination attempt on him. At a supposed press conference at the Alisa Hotel (Accra) on Monday evening where journalists were not allowed to asked questions, Mr Woyome, who is one of the major financiers of the NDC, and recently won a GH42million judgement debt against the state, accused the Kufuor regime of ordering his assassination with a decoy that he was dealing in illegal small arms. Aside that, he claimed Papa Owusu Ankomah even admitted in his office that indeed he gave the orders but insisted that he did not know I was the target. He claimed current Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Patrick Timbilla, was the one who covered up the incident at the time after refusing to take a written statement from him, saying, Patrick Timbilla said to me to go and treat my men whilst he also treats his men. ACP Kofi Boakye, who was then in-charge of Greater Accra, virtually begged me on his knees to let matters die. At the end, I only got an apology for it.But the former Interior Minister has rubbished the allegation. Owusu Ankomah, who spoke on various networks, could not fathom why Woyome would make spurious allegations, knowing very well that it did not contain an iota of truth. He stressed the belief that Woyome could be diverting attention from his personal problems by making such a ridiculous allegation since I just cant imagine why he would want to make such a wild allegation. He said it was not the business of the Minister of Interior to order people (police) to assassinate others, an order he said no right-thinking security officer would obey.
