Nana Addo Attends Funeral

Activities at the Techiman Municipality came to a halt when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) attended the funeral of the wife of the Techiman South NPP Constituency Chairman, Peter Adom during the weekend. When news went round that the flagbearer had arrived at the funeral grounds, several supporters of the NPP left the venue only to come back wearing the partys T shirts, smock and other paraphernalia. When finally the flagbearer stepped out of his car, the funeral was nearly turned into a rally as supporters struggled to shake hands with the man. The bodyguards of the flagbearer had a difficult time controlling the crowd when he went around to greet sympathizers who were seated. Amidst spontaneous shouts of All die be Die Bumper to Bumper, supporters of the NPP followed the flagbearer until he sat down to be welcomed by his host. When Nana Addo was about to leave, the uncontrollable crowd surged forward to escort him amidst dancing and singing. Nana Akosua Adubia, a 76-year-old woman, who could not control her emotions, wept as the convoy of the flagbearer left the venue. Speaking to Daily Guide, Nana Akosua said she shed tears because several attempts had been made by the NDC to destroy the flagbearer, adding, So when I saw the man in such a healthy condition, I felt so sad for the gentleman who is always at the receiving end. Nana Adubia used the opportunity to appeal to politicians to stop the smear campaign against their perceived political enemies and concentrate on the welfare of the people. She condemned those who have been trying desperately to defame the character of the NPP flagbearer, saying after several attempts to destroy the man, he continues to be very popular and so why not leave him alone?
