Fresh Attacks On Fulanis...In Gushegu

Peacefmonline.con can confirm reports of fresh attacks on Fulani herdsmen in Gushegu by some unknown Konkombas just two weeks after a similar attack led to the butchery of 13 Burkinabe Fulani herdsmen. Thursday's attack, according to reports, was instigated against some Fulani herdsmen seeking shelter in a Kokomba community in the Gushiegu District capital, Naburi. Eyewitnesses told peacefmonline.com that though a section of the community resisted the attempt to attack the Fulani, their cattle were not spared. The attackers vented their spleen on the animals killing them indiscriminately and vowed to attack the community protecting the Fulanis if they continue shielding them. The Northern Regional Commander, ACP George Tuffour confirmed the incident. He, however, says no serious injuries have been recorded so far and a team of officers has been dispatched to the area to restore order. In a related development, the police say seven more suspects have been arrested in connection with the massacre that left 13 Fulanis including two children dead last week. They include six Konkombas and one Dagomba. One other suspect, Ebenezer Womde, a Kokomba who was picked up earlier is still in custody in Gushiegu whilst the seven will be sent to Tamale for interrogation.
