Probe Kufuor, Nana Addo For Causing Financial Loss To The State

A pressure group, Coalition for Responsible Opposition (CROP), has petitioned the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO to immediately charge former president Kufuor and members of his cabinet for willfully causing financial loss to the state. CROP has also petitioned the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), National Security, office of the President and the Parliament of Ghana to probe the past administration. According to a member of the group Benjamin Akyena Brentuo, Mr. Kufuor and his cabinets decision to abrogate a contract won by Alfred Woyome has led to the award of some GhC 42 million to the NDC financier. Mr. Brentuo in an interview with Citi News said the GhC 42 million awarded to Woyome as judgment debt could have been channeled to boosting other sectors of the economy so Ghanaians must demand for the lost money. We are told that we need so many infrastructure as a country and if monies exist why dont we deploy them in productive ventures rather than the negligence of public officers causing financial loss to this country, he said. I have petitioned all of these bodies to immediately investigate and invite the cabinet at the time, President Kufuor, the Foreign Affairs Minister Nana Akufo-Addo, the then Sports Minister and all other parties who have something to do with this issue. Brentuo added, There is evidence that their actions were going to cause them, all the parties involved in this particular transaction. What we are saying is that they should come and answer particularly when there is a precedent when other people in the past didnt act right and went ahead to be jailed.
