An elder of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Haruna Esseku says discussions are still ongoing to select a formidable running mate for the flagbearer of the party; Nana Akufo Addo in next year�s general elections.
According to him, such discussions are yet to confirm a name although various individuals are reported to be front runners.
A section of the media claim the running mate to Nana Addo in the 2008 elections, Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia has been picked to partner Nana Addo again in 2012, a report that has been denied by the NPP general secretary.
Mr. Haruna Esseku in an interview with Citi News said there is no need speculating and putting unnecessary pressure on the processes currently underway to choose a running mate, indicating that a name will be disclosed in the first quarter of next year.
�The national executive met in May this year and we gave out an instruction that the issue of running mate for Nana Addo will not be discussed until the first quarter of 2012.
�We also asked all party members who want to lobby for any member should freeze from bringing out any name until the first quarter of 2012�.
