Government Now Owns 100 Per Cent In Gama Film Company

The Gama Films Company (GFC) Limited , on Thursday handed over its 70 per cent shares in the GFC to Government. This followed the signing of an agreement between the Company and Government in Accra. The Government had 30 per cent shares in the company and with this initiative, Government now own 100 per cent share in the company. Mr Mohamed Baba Jamal, a Deputy Minister of Information, signed on behalf of the Government while Mr Shariman Zainal Abidin, General Manager, Media Prima, signed on behalf of management of the company. He said the company had performed creditably in revamping the country�s film industry and commended the management for their good work. Mr Jamal said Government would use the company to promote the local film industry. Mr. Abidin was grateful to Government for allowing the company to operate in Ghana. The GFC is a multi-facet film and video production company, well endowed with experienced human resources, technical competence and state-of-the art equipment. Gama Films produces TV commercials, corporate documentaries, reality shows and feature films. Government sold out 70 per cent of its shares in the GFC in 1994 to the Malaysians and to transfer it to the Government after 15 years.
