NPP Top Guns To Meet Over Woyome

Some former government officials under the erstwhile Kufuor administration will be meeting later today, November 15 over recent allegations leveled against them by NDC financier Alfred Woyome. A Gh42 million judgment debt awarded Mr. Woyome has generated a lot of controversy recently in Ghana. The bankroller had dragged the state to court over what he described as the illegal termination of a contract given him to renovate some stadia in the country ahead of Ghanas hosting of the 2008 African Cup of Nations. Seeking to adduce justification for the receipt of the judgment debt, Mr. Woyome, at a recent press conference accused former President Kufuor, former Sports Minister Osafo Maafo, former Chief of Staff Kwadwo Mpiani, and former Interior Minister Paapa Owusu Ankomah amongst others of conspiring to assassinate him after they had allegedly terminated his contract without justification. The Assin North MP, Kennedy Agyepong and other NPP officials have harshly criticized Mr. Woyome for receiving money he never worked for. Citifmonline. com has gathered that Mr. Mpiani, Mr. Osafo Maafo, former Deputy Sports Minister O. B Amoah and other former officials will hold a press conference on Tuesday to clear the air on the matter, thus their preliminary meeting on Friday. Meanwhile, a member of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Kweku Agyemang Manu has told Citi News that the Committee is studying the Auditor Generals report which captured the 42 million judgment debt award to Mr Woyome as one of several avoidable debts which together imposed a total of 2. 7 billion Ghana cedis on the state.
