NDC MP Snubs Fifi Kwetey

A Deputy Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Fifi Kwetey says he does not understand why a colleague from the same party is at daggers drawn with him. There is an unhealthy political rivalry brewing between the Hon. Albert Korsi Zigah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu South and the Deputy Finance Minister. The two NDC top echelons will square off for who wins the right to represent the people of Ketu South in parliament on the ticket of the ruling party when the NDC holds its parliamentary primaries in areas where they have sitting Members of Parliament next year. And even before that contest comes off, the two are giving Ghanaians a foretaste of what to expect. Thursdays edition of The moment newspaper has it that the two government officials clashed at the durbar grounds at Aflao where Hon. Fiifi Kwetey was the guest speaker at the 10 year celebration of TOP YOUTH CLUB over the weekend. As part of the 10th anniversary celebration of the club, the Dep. Minister of Finance and NDC MP for Ketu South and other dignitaries were in attendance to grace the occasion. According to reports, the elated crowd nearly turned the event into a mini rally as they chanted any time Fifi Kwetey's name was mentioned. The start of the celebration saw some drama when Hon. Albert Zigah vehemently rejected a handshake from the Deputy Minister of Finance. Fifi Kwetey who confirmed the incident, explained in an interview with Radio Gold that when he arrived at the function, he exchanged pleasantries with the Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, Torgbui Amenya Fiti V and proceeded to do same with Hon. Albert Zigah. However, the Ketu South MP deliberately snubbed him by refusing his offer of a handshake. Hon. Zigah also refused to acknowledge my presence when he was given the opportunity to speak at the durbar, he added. According to Fiifi Kwetey, the Ketu South had on several occasions accused him (Fiifi) of calling him (Zigah) a mad person in an interview with Peace FM a few months ago, and as a result, he (Zigah) has sworn never to see eye to eye with him (Fiifi). Fiifi Kwetey said he never called the Hon. MP a mad person. According to him, he used the word paranoid which to him is not the same as mad.
