If Mills Believes In NDC's Probity & Accountability,Then Betty Must Go

A member of the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR), Ernest Owusu Bempah, has joined the call for President John Evans Atta Mills to sack former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Madam Betty Mould-Iddrisu. Madam Betty Mould-Iddrisu stands accused of being negligent, reckless and unprofessional per her actions and inactions in the doling out of almost GH58 million as settlement of claim involving rehabilitation of three stadia to Vamed/Waterville Engineering and Mr. Alfred Woyome as judgment debt. Speaking in an interview on Citi news, Owusu Bempah said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was founded on the principles of probity and accountability for that reason Madam Betty Mould Iddrisu needs to be sacked since she was not accountable in her former position. NDC was formed on the basis of probity, accountability and social justice so we are calling on the President to set up an independent enquiry into the issuebut he[Mills] has to make sure that Betty Mould-Iddrisu is sacked...If President Mills believes in probity and accountability and if they are willing to exhibit that they are ready to pass the probity and accountability test then these issues that FONKAR has raised should be addressed immediately, he said. When informed that the President has asked the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the payment, Mr. Owusu Bempah said based on how EOCO handled an issue concerning the Ghana Football Association (GFA) some time ago, he does not believe that they can do the work. we are not comfortable with EOCO because their credibility is questionable. So we want an independent investigation for the right thing to be done and this will avoid problems for the party he added.
