X-Mas Message From AFAG

The Leadership of the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) wishes to extend its seasonal felicitations at Christmas to all Ghanaians, both home and abroad. AFAG shares in the pain of some Ghanaians who are unable at this moment to afford the best treat of the season, because of difficult economic circumstances. This not withstanding AFAG takes this opportunity as a civil society group to re-new and extend its utmost assurance to all Ghanaians of its civic responsibility of promoting the interest of Ghanaians. We indeed hope to step up advocacy next year, especially as Ghanaians prepare to go to the polls in 2012. It is our fervent position that, in 2012, we shall: Perform sectoral analysis on issues bothering on; Youth & Unemployment NHIS Fishing industry and mechanized farming Tariffs (import duties, utility tariffs, and petroleum products) BECE examination performance, SSS placements, SHS educational structure Assess the challenges and sustainability of the Single Spine Salary Structure Wade into the tango between the Shippers Authority and the Freight Forwarders Association of Ghana(Ref daily graphic 14th December edition pp.45) Renew our advocacy on the provision of quality and affordable telecommunication and internet services to Ghanaians Be very prominent on electoral issues, and the role of the security agencies in election 2012 We wish however, to caution all political parties of their utterances before, during and after the general elections as AFAG is prepared to name and shame when the need arises. Other issues including ownership and the source of funding for the acquisition of the new ultra-modern headquarters by the NDC will be visited shortly after the New Year and most importantly the Woyome-gate scandal and how it has pan out after the legal tussle between the A-Gs department as well as the Public Account committee sittings and its recommendations. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to person(s), Media, and all subverted organizations that assist us in our efforts to deepen multi-party democracy in our democratic dispensation as we serve as the voice for the Ghanaian in the rank and file. God bless Ghana, God bless all! Leading Members
