Akufo-Addo Meets Fishermen

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaian fishermen that his administration will revive the Ministry of Fisheries to help address issues affecting the industry when voted into power. He said during the previous NPP administration the Ministry served its purpose of helping equip fishermen to gain from their business, but the present government scrapped the Ministry for no reason, thereby crippling the fishing industry. Akufo-Addo disclosed this when he met with leaders of the various fishing groups from all the fishing areas in the country at his residence at Nima in Accra. He indicated that one major political change his government will embark on is to institute a National Day for Fishermen to celebrate their hard work. The fisher folks in this country also need recognition, as such when voted into power, my government will make sure theres a separate national day aside from the farmers day, to celebrate our illustrious fishermen, the flagbearer stated. He assured that as the Kufuor administration came out with policies and programmes which helped develop the cocoa industry, adding, I will also ensure to accord our over 2 million fishermen the same help. He however regretted how the present government had disappointed fishermen after making numerous campaign promises. We all know the numerous lies the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government made about premix fuel, pair trawling and outboard motors, but we are yet to see even a fraction of it, Akufo-Addo added. He therefore called on them to unite and vote for the NPP if they want to experience a change and improvement in their lives.
