The Suhum police have mounted an intensive search for a 45 �year old Senior Revenue Inspector of the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District Assembly, Mr Peter Boateng, for embezzling over GH � 5,000 belonging to the assembly.
A police source told the GNA that Boateng was in charge of the collection of the assembly revenue and that all revenue collectors in the area gave their monies to him to be paid to the bank.
The source said Boateng would tell the revenue collectors that he had sent the money to the bank and at the same time gave the pay-in slips to the District Finance Officer for recording.
The theft was detected during an audit of the assembly account and Boateng was arrested and during interrogation he admitted the offence and was granted police enquiry bail only to abscond.
