President John Evans Atta Mills has directed that any civil servant found to be working against the interest of his government must be sacked. �I have heard the complaint that some are sabotaging me, but let me say that if a civil servant sabotages, he must be removed. He must be removed, because if you are sabotaging then it means you are not doing what you have been employed to do and with the view to destroying what is there, then you must be removed, you are not ready to be a civil servant.� President Mills attracted harsh backlashes when he declared during his interaction with the press at the Castle in his first year in office that he cannot work with people who do not share his vision. However, in an interview with Accra-based radio station, Radio Gold on Friday, President Mills justified the directive, saying it will inure to the benefit of the state. �They are not working for Atta Mills, they are not working for the NDC; they are working for the nation Ghana. If they sabotage Atta Mills, they are sabotaging Ghana, because Civil servants would be there until they retired. �So if you destroy what is there because of Atta Mills, let Atta Mills go away, you will find that you are left with what you have destroyed. To rebuild is not always easy, and their future depends on that. Likely, there are many of them who are working very hard,� he averred. The President observed that such lackadaisical attitudes and incapacitating tactics affect government�s development drive as they discourage others from giving of their best. �They are supposed to service us; to service us, and if they refuse to play their part, do you expect the others to also play their part, no. But luckily, if there are any such people they must be very few in the system.� Meanwhile, President Atta Mills has vowed not to speak ill of former President Rawlings, a man he worked under as a vice president. Mr Rawlings, once a backer of Mr Mills� presidency, has though unsurprisingly, turned the heat on President Mills, thus becoming an ardent critic of his three-year administration. �You�ve never heard me say anything negative about President Rawlings and I will never say anything negative about President Rawlings,� he opined. He described their relation as �normal� and maintained that �I have the greatest respect for him� In fact when he makes suggestions, I listen and I react appropriately.�
