Nana Addo Goes For Bawumia But Party Says No

Sources close to Citi News have revealed that the delay in NPP flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo announcing his running mate is because the party is not in favour of his choice of Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia for a second term. According to sources within the camp of Nana Addo and the council of elders of the NPP, while Nana Addo is bent on giving the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana a second chance to partner him as running mate for the 2012 general elections, the party machinery on the other hand insists a different person be chosen as running mate. Dr. Bawumia, who partnered Nana Addo in 2008, is being considered alongside other likely candidates such as Ambrose Dery, M N D Jawula and Boniface Saddique. Different interest groups are mounting pressure on Nana Addo to choose their preferred choice of candidate as running mate. But Adansi Asokwa MP Hon. K. T Hammond has revealed to Citi News that Nana Addo has confided in some party big wigs that he will soon announce his choice of running mate. Hon. Hammond stated that the choice of a running mate is not an easy one to take adding that members of the NPP must allow Nana Addo make the right decision. He needs to take his time, he has to get it right, these are not matters that you get wrong and later come to complain. In the last two days he has told us that he is close to making a decisionhe is the best person to make that decision.
