The management of the Sahel-Sahara Bank has commended the GLICO Group, a leading provider of life and general insurance, financial services and asset management in the country, for its pioneering and sound business activities in the past 25 years. The bank�s Managing Director, Mr Robert Bentil, who made the commendation, applauded the founders of the company for �sowing a seed that has yielded fruits and is contributing to the growth of the nation.� A press statement issued in Accra and copied to the Daily Graphic said Mr Bentil made the commendation at a prayer service held for GLICO at the forecourt of its Head Office in Adabraka, Accra. Mr Bentil was impressed about the bold steps taken by the Chairman of the GLICO Group, Mr Kwame Acheampong in setting up the company in 1986 �when the insurance industry in Ghana was everything but attractive.� Mr Bentil, who described the relationship between the bank and the GLICO Group as �excellent and positive for business growth� called for an improvement in the collaboration between the country�s banking community and insurance companies. The statement noted the many successes chalked up by the GLICO Group and applauded the various innovations introduced by the company into the insurance industry. Mr Bentil, the statement said, further called on the management of the GLICO Group not to relent on its efforts to achieve more successes, but rather continue to work harder to build a multinational firm that would operate in other parts of Africa and the world. �In the next 25 years, which will be your Golden Jubilee Anniversary, we hope to see the GLICO Group doing business in other parts of the world, particularly on the African Continent,� the statement quoted the MD as saying.
