'Check Your Brakes Before Embarking On Any Journey'

Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr Charles Ahiamale, the Madina Deputy MTTU Police Commander, has appealed to all drivers in the country to check on their brakes before they embark on any journey. He said though this was to help prevent unnecessary accidents it was equally important that in this New Year, drivers ought to be mindful of other road users and maintain a defensive driving posture. He said this after a driver of an unregistered vehicle was fined 480 by an Accra City Motor Court for ramming into two stationary vehicles. Madam Rukia Yakubu, the driver, who appeared before the court presided over by Mrs Alberta Amponsah, was driving the unregistered Hundai Saloon car on December 9, 2011 around the Madina Market Car Park when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into two parked vehicles. The two parked vehicles belonging to Felix Piasah and Helen Prempeh were both extensively damaged as a result of the crash. After Police investigations, the driver Madam Rukia Yakubu was placed before the Accra City Motor Court on January 4, 2011 and charged with Careless and Inconsiderate driving which resulted in the fine.
