Mrs. Cecilia Johnson, Member of Council of State, at the weekend said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could lose the 2012 general election if party members failed to propagate projects and programmes executed by the government. She therefore charged the NDC to educate and portray the numerous development projects that Ghana had benefited under the Mills government to win the December polls. Mrs Johnson who was inaugurating the Champions Club, an NDC youth wing at Nsoatre in Sunyani West District of Brong-Ahafo, said: �If we compare the eight years administration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to that of the three and half years of the government, the NDC stands the chance of winning the elections�. . She said the Government had accomplished most of the policies contained in the party�s 2008 manifesto but advised members of the party to eschew complacency and undertake the electioneering campaign with zeal and dynamism for victory in the general election. Mrs. Johnson said the contributions of the Youth and women�s wings of the Party to winning elections could not be overemphasized and urged the club to demonstrate unity of purpose and work hard to retain the NDC. Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo,Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, said the NDC as a social democratic government recognized the plight of each and every Ghanaian and would continue to put in place social interventions that would bring remarkable improvement in the lives of the people. He advised Ghanaians to renew the mandate of the government in the 2012 elections by voting massively for the NDC. The Regional Minister who is the NDC parliamentary candidate for the area, reminded all eligible voters to register their names when the new voter�s registration exercise was opened to enable them to vote. Mr. Nyamekye-Marfo called on all youth wings in the various political parties to conduct their campaigns in a more decorous manner, devoid of inflammatory remarks that could bring unnecessary tension before, during and after the December polls. He advised the clergy to continue to pray for peaceful elections, saying it was by divine intervention that the 2008 elections were peaceful. Mr. Nyamekye-Marfo said the NDC would soon roll out its campaign strategy in the Region and urged the leadership of the club to always be in touch with the regional party secretariat. He expressed concern about chieftaincy disputes that had stalled development at Nsoatre and appealed to the Nsoatre Traditional Council to let the development of the town supersede their personal and political interests. Mr. Mohammed Seidu, Regional Youth Organiser, said similar youth wings had been inaugurated at Banda-Ahenkro and Badu and advised the club to study and get themselves abreast of the structures within the NDC. This, he said, would enable them to channel their grievances through laid down procedures and appropriate quarters for redress. Mr. Seidu asked the Youth wings in the Party to intensify the campaign to woo more people into the party�s fold for an overwhelming victory in the Election 2012. Mr. Paul Kusi, founder of the club, said with unity and necessary support, the club would help capture the constituency and also ensure that the NDC retained power. He mentioned lack of funds and office equipment, as well as a vehicle as some challenges that faced the club and appealed to Mr. Nyamekye-Marfo in particular and the NDC in general to come to their aid. Mr. Solomon Kofi Agyemang, Assistant headmaster of Kintampo Senior High School, who presided, observed that the NDC was the only party that could �push the development of Ghana forward� and advised Ghanaians to vote for the party in the upcoming elections.
