Volta University Is 80% Ready

Over 80 per cent of structures for the University College of Health and Allied Sciences at Ho have been completed. They include the Vice and Pro-Vice Chancellors' bungalows, staff accommodation, lecture halls, science laboratories and students' hostels. Mr. Joseph Amenowode the Volta Regional Minister made this known last Thursday when he briefed the media during a tour of the facilities. According to him, admissions into the institution would soon commence. The government, he said, was committed to establish the university in the region as stated in the manifesto of the National Democratic Congress. It is the projection of the interim planning committee of the university that within two years, the physical structures of the college would be completed. He told the media that funds had been sourced for upgrading of Ho Regional and Hohoe Municipal Hospitals for use as Teaching Hospitals by the college. He expressed concern about the misinformation that the government had reneged on its promise of establishing the university in the region.
