Ghana Is Sinking

The founder and leader of the Independent Peoples Party (IPP), a newly outdoored political party in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, says the country is sinking under the leadership of President Mills. Kofi Akpaloo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Presdel Group of Companies told DAILY GUIDE during the official launch of his political party in Kumasi that President Mills has failed to provide the needed inspirational leadership. The 2004 independent parliamentary candidate asked the President to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he is in charge of the governance of the country. Stressing that President Mills has woefully failed to exhibit those qualities, the IPP leader and founder postulated that the country could only progress if leaders effectively steer the affairs of the country. He therefore enjoined the electorate to reject the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the other parties, who would be contesting the 2012 elections. Mr Akpaloo indicated that the NPP and the NDC, the two dominant political forces in the country, have both disappointed Ghanaians, stressing that the time has come for a new political party like the IPP to be given the chance to change the destiny of the country for the better. He emphasized that the nation needs visionary and efficient leader who would give raft attention to technological advancement. The IPP founder, who would definitely lead the party as flagbearer for the impending polls, said his party, after careful consideration, chose the computer as its political symbol. Mr Akpaloo pointed out that the symbol was chosen because the party, if voted into power in the forthcoming polls, will make Information, Communication Technology (ICT) a priority. Noting that the entrenchment of ICT will not only create employment and wealth for the people, the IPP leader noted that his reign as President of the country will improve the lives of the aged and children. He stated that during his administration would give GH50 per month to the aged whereas children would be credited an amount of GH20 every month to ensure that they lead descent lives. He revealed that he would stop the building of slums and construct several affordable houses across the country. Urging the electorate to vote for the party, Mr Akpaloo disclosed that the party received its preliminary certificate from the Electoral Commission (EC) on December 21, 2011 and that their final certificate was due in January 22 this year. He said the party will quickly organize its constituency, regional and national congresses to elect serving officers and flagbearer for the 2012 elections.
