The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) may have ended its parliamentary primaries in constituencies where the party has sitting MPs (the Greater Accra is yet to hold theirs) but the Lower Manya Krobo constituency in the Eastern Region continues to ripple with accusations and counter-accusations. The latest to comment on the defeat of the incumbent MP, Hon. Michael Teye Nyaunu (MTN), is the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia who believes the MP brought the defeat on himself. Prior to last Saturday�s polls, Hon Teye Nyaunu, a vociferous critic of the Mills� administration, had described the president as a sleepy driver of a brand new Yutong bus and went further to urge NDC delegates to vote for Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings during the party�s �FONKAR-GAME� delegates conference. But it was a bit of a surprise when he became one of the tall list of heavy casualties (17 MPs were defeated) at the just-ended parliamentary primaries. �MTN� lost to the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Ebenezer Teye Larbi, who polled 211 votes as against his (Nyaunu�s) 185 votes. The defeated MP is however accusing the Mills administration of contributing to his electoral loss. He alleges that the entire government machinery �descended� on his constituency distributing bags of rice, cooking oil, roofing sheets and doling out monies to delegates like the wind without a care in the world. However, the NDC General Secretary opines otherwise. He believes the actions and inactions of Hon Teye Nyaunu contributed largely to his electoral defeat.
