The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Regional has condemned the Chief Executive Officer of the Metro Mass Transit, Mr Maxwell Awuku, for his refusal to allow the party to use the state buses.
They said the attitude of Mr Awuku was highly in a bad taste, smacks of causing financial loss to the state and also a real test to President Atta Mills� commitment to building a united country and healing wounds.
The party has therefore called for the immediate dismissal of Mr Awuku from office and to replace him with more competent and patriotic citizen who would not reduce the Metro Mass establishment into partisan politics and unfortunate political party propaganda mill.
This was contained in a statement issued in Koforidua on Wednesday and jointly signed by Alhaji Omar Bodinga, Regional Vice Chairman of the NPP and Mr Frank Annor Dompreh, Regional Youth Organizer.
They said Mr Awuku refused to grant permission to the party�s various branches from hiring the state buses for their national prayer and thanksgiving service in Takoradi and by this, Mr Awuku had brought the name of the company into disrepute and public ridicule and must be condemned by all well-meaning Ghanaians.
�We are waiting for the President to act quickly on Mr Awuku to serve as a deterrent to other government appointees that the whole business of governance was to serve and not to lord over the people,� the statement said.
