Musician And Two Others In Police Grips For Possessing Indian Hemp

Three persons including a musician were arrested at Aflao on January 29 for allegedly possessing Indian hemp. They are Fiho Kofi, 39, musician, Paul Yaovi, 34, mason and Kakra Kumedzi 45, carpenter and were arrested at different locations. Mr Alexander Bedie, Volta Regional Police Commander who briefed the media in Ho, said the suspects were tracked down following a tip-off. He said Fiho Kofi, with dreadlocks, said he smokes the leaves to put him in the mood to perform on stage and the seeds as hair cream. Kakra Kumedzi said he uses the seeds as feed for his fowls. Mr Bedie said on January 31, the Kpetoe police arrested one Oseni Lasisi, 35, a driver, with 144 parcels of a substance suspected to contain Indian hemp. Mr Bedie said Lasisi was arrested while trying to run away when a car he was driving was stopped by the Police for inspection but his companion escaped.
