PNC Congress Underway After Court Throws Out Injunction

An Accra High Court on Saturday dismissed an application for an injunction on the PNCs National Delegates Congress. The courts decision follows a suit filed by some five members of the party for an injunction to be placed on the Congress which begins today at the Bronh Ahafo Regional capital of Sunyani. Counsel for the Plaintiff, Dr. Somtim Tobiga told Citi News the court is yet to give reasons for the dismissal of the case. He said I was in court when the matter came up, the court went through the matter and then allowed the congress to go ahead so the injunction that they filed was denied and therefore they can now go ahead and hold the congress. The court said we should come back on Tuesday to get the reason why it granted the application for them to go to congress, so on Tuesday we would have to go back to find out why. Meanwhile leading member and flagbearer aspirant of the PNC, Dr. Edward Mahama told Citi News all is set for the congress to begin. He said I am at the congress grounds myself, we are about to start and that would be right after a short NEC meeting. Dr. Edward Mahama is seeking to lead the party as its flagbearer after five failed attempts. Other party executives would also be elected.
