NDC Parliamentary Candidate Ready To Cause Upset At Tafo-Pankrono

Miss Memuna Abubekr-Saddique, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Tafo-Pankrono, says she would cause a major political upset by capturing the constituency seat from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). I am going to surprise many come the December elections, she said during an interview with the GNA in Kumasi. The constituency, carved out of Suame in 2004, is considered a safe seat for the NPP, but Miss Abubekr-Saddique insists things would change, this time round. She said she was confident of beating the incumbent, Dr Anthony Akoto-Osei, at the poll and that she is campaigning on education improvement and has pledged to do everything to lift the level to give impetus to the socio-economic progress of the area. She said she would work with all stakeholders to set up an education endowment fund to assist brilliant but needy school children and students adding that a Vocational Training Institute would be established to train the unemployed youth in skills and trades that would make them useful entrepreneurs. Miss Abubekr-Saddiue appealed to supporters of the NDC in the area to step up the political education campaign to aid voters to appreciate the good job the Mills Administration was doing. She called on her opponents to be civil in their electioneering campaign to make this years general elections peaceful.
