Fritz Baffour And Asaga In Parliament Today

The vetting committee of Parliament will be grilling four new ministerial appointees announced by the President of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills, today. The quartet is made up of Minister-designate for Employment and Social Welfare, Moses Asaga, Mr Fritz Baffour, Minister-designate for Information, Dominic Azimbe Azumah, MP for Garu/Timpane is Minister of State designate at the Presidency and Mr Stephen Ackah, Deputy Minister-designate for Local Government and Rural Development. Mr. Asagas vetting is highly expected to take centre stage since it becomes the second time he is appearing before the same committee following his appointment as Water Resources, Works and Housing minister-designate in 2009. President Mills withdrew his appointment then for ordering the payment of the controversial ex-gratia awards to some former state officials without recourse to his colleagues in Parliament or the transition team of the new government. The second batch of appointments will be vetted on Tuesday, February 14 and will include William Kwasi Aboah, Minister-designate for the Interior and Amin Amidu Sulemana, Upper West Regional Minister-designate.
