Some 76 persons have been picked up by the Police in connection with the shooting incident at Tuba in Kasoa on Saturday leading to the death of a policeman on patrol duties.
Lance Corporal Ernest Asamoah lost his life while three others were critically injured in the gun battle with some armed robbers in the wee hours of Saturday.
The police were in search of a notorious armed robber and ended up being ambushed by the armed gang.
Corporal Kwabena Danso, the acting Public Affairs Director of the Accra Police Command said the suspected robbers will be screened and the innocent ones released to join their families.
Speaking to Citi News on Tuesday, he said the Police conducted a swoop on the area on Tuesday morning and managed to arrest the 76 suspected persons.
He added that the Police administration would do everything within its power to ensure that the armed robbers are arrested and brought to book.
