A Presidential Aide Stan Dogbe has called the bluff of Members of Parliament who are threatening to boycott Thursday�s State of the Nation�s Address which will be delivered by President John Evans Atta Mills. According to Mr. Dogbe, �it would be interesting for us to go to Parliament tomorrow [Thursday] for the MPs to walk out of Parliament and see if the State of the Nation�s Address would not be presented or not." He added: �If they choose not to be there for the State of the Nation�s Address to be presented, they should not be there. � Mr. Dogbe�s comments stem from a recent brouhaha that broke out in Parliament over members� salaries which is allegedly pegged at Gh�3,000. Based on this however, some MPs have said President Mills has been insensitive to their plight as legislators. In an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, Mr. Dogbe indicated that �Members of Parliament are not paid Gh�3,000. They must come out and be sincere to the people of this country as to how much MPs are paid. They are not paid Gh�3,000 a month, that is not their salary. � President Mills held an emergency meeting with the leadership of the House this morning in a bid to resolve the impasse resounding their salaries and other remuneration. The leadership has been asked to go and form a committee that will look into the issue in conjunction with the presidency.
