According to reports reaching Nigeriafilms.com, a man named Chinedu Ugwuodo has been beaten to death by some members of St Mary's Catholic Church, Nsukka in Enugu State.
Chinedu was alleged to have stolen some amount of money given to the church as offerings. Late Chinedu was said to be known for theft cases in the area.
Reports say that he was caught at the parish priest's apartment committing the alleged offence. We further gathered that he was beaten to a coma by some angry church members.
He was to said to have been handed over to the police afterwards but the police insisted he should be taken to the hospital for treatment. He was later reported dead shortly after arriving Bishop Shanahan hospital.
There have been calls by some civil societies against jungle justice in Nigeria. Though government has frowned against such practices, but cases of it have not reduced over time.
