Under fire coach of the Black Stars Goran Stevanovic has categorically stated that he will not resign, leaving his fate in the hands of the Ghana FA after a disappointing outing at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Serbian trainer who prior to the tournament had consistently declared his desire to win trophies during his tenure with the Black Stars failed in his quest to end Ghana�s 30-year drought for an African crown at the senior level.
His plight was even worsened when he missed out on a third place finish after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Mali in Malabo.
Duiring his first Press conference after the tournament, the 45-year-old however remained determined to hold on to his job, saying he still believes he can get the desired result of winning a trophy in the last of his two-year contract with the Ghana FA.
�I feel good here and I want to continue here because I think we build one strong team for the future,� he told the local press.
Stevanovic popularly known as Plavi added that Gyan must not be blamed for missing the crucial penalty against Zambia, saying that quality players worldwide have in a way missed penalties hence his plea for the striker to be spared
The coach also stated that he will directly work with the GFA to ensure that Kevin Prince Boateng rescinds his decision to return to international football.
The coach insisted that his team is not a rough side despite having four players sent off in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.
He said there was high level of discipline in camp and was highly impressed with the conduct of the players. His usual defensive duo - captain John Mensah and Isaac Vorsah � as well as newcomer John Boye and also midfielder Derek Boateng were all sent off during the tournament.
The GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi also hinted that the failure of the national team to win the trophy was due to some negative attitudes put up by most of the senior players in the team.
He said most players played for self glory rather than fight for the success of the whole team.
