NDC Masterminded A 419 Judgment Debt Payment To Woyome To Dupe The Nation

The Aspiring Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Ursula Owusu, has slammed the arrest of a former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. O.B. Amoah, for his alleged role in the Woyomegate scandal... ...saying the government is simply pursuing an agenda of political equalization in the on-going investigations into the controversial payment of GH51 million in judgement debt to Alfred Agbesi Woyome. O.B. Amoah, who is the NPP Member of Parliament for Aburi-Nsawam, was arrested last Sunday evening and charged with corruption and willfully causing financial loss to the state for his role in processes leading to the Woyome judgement debt scandal. He was said to have received in two trenches GH75,000 from businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome in 2011, but on Monday, February 20th, granted a GH20 million police inquiry bail with two sureties. The Interim Report by the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) presented to President Mills earlier this month, indicted Mr. O. B Amoah in that he was the one who gave the green light for contractors from Waterville, to move to site during the CAN 2008 stadia renovation ahead of a contractual agreement from government. But speaking on OmanFM, the Gender Advocate stressed that on the charge of causing financial loss to the state, Hon Amoah cannot be culpable in the sense that as a deputy minister under the erstwhile Kufuor administration, he had no power to negotiate a deal without the express knowledge and approval or consent of the sector minister. If NDC, allows their deputy ministers to override their sector ministers, it was a different ball game in the NPP where respect was given to hierarchy of power, she said. On the issue of the GH75,000 cheque said to have been paid to Mr. Amoah by the NDC financier, the NPP Parliamentary candidate pointed out that the Aburi-Nsawam MP has already explained it was meant as payment for a land the NDC financier had bought in his (Amoahs) constituency from the Chief of Kitase, a town near Aburi, which he Amoah facilitated. She therefore described the whole saga as hilarious and likened it to Animal Farm, (George Orwell's 1945 satirical novel focusing on the obliteration of totalitarian regimes) adding that it is sad all these are happening under the watch of a law professor. Ursula Owusu was emphatic that the NPP signed no contract with Mr. Woyome neither did the party owed Waterville any monies as at the time the NPP was leaving office, and therefore accused the NDC of masterminding a 419 deal to fleece the state. We (NPP) never pleaded with him to do any job for usThe judgment debt payment to him was a 419 deal, masterminded by the NDC in order to rip off the nation They (NDC) even told most of their activists when they assumed office to ransack their files and lie to Ghanaians that the NPP left behind this and that amount of money as debt, she said. The aspiring MP urged the Ghana Police Service to live up to its maxim and not compromise its investigations into the Woyomegate scandal but to ensure that every person liable in the saga is brought to book.
