Missing State Files Saga: Mpiani Says 'Go And Ask' Don Arthur

A former Chief of Staff under the Kufuor administration, Mr. Kwadwo Mpiani, has challenged the NDC government to query a Presidential Staffer, Dr. Don Arthur, for the documents allegedly missing from the Office of the Chief of Staff. Mr. Mpiani has denied accusations from government that he took away some vital official documents upon leaving office in 2001, which could help in uncovering some heinous crimes committed during the NPP era. According to Mr. Mpiani, Dr. Arthur should be blamed for any lost document because I understand when we left, he went into my office, shared everything and he threatened to have me hanged. He was boasting to people that hes taken all the files in my office, and wed see what hes going to do. They should ask him. Mpianis comments followed that of Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, a former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, who were both mentioned by a Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to have bolted with some official files to cover up their misdeeds. Meanwhile, Mr. Ablakwa had insisted several official documents have gone missing and said government is working behind the scenes to retrieve them. The Attorney General, Dr. Benjamin Kumbuor, has also given indications that his office is investigating the issue and some former government officials have been questioned.
