Nana Akufo Addo Advises All

THE FLAGBEARER of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has urged members of the party and all eligible voters to register when the biometric registration by the Electoral Commission (EC) opens on March 24. He said party members must also encourage their friends and relatives to register noting it is only through registration that suffering Ghanaians would be able to vote for a change of government describing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a total failure. Nana Akufo-Addo made the call at Begoro in the Eastern region Saturday when he graced the official launch of the constituency campaign for Fanteakwa. The Atta-Mills led government promised to reduce petrol prices, reduce utility bills, fight corruption, create jobs and make Ghana better but now what do we see? Corruption all over, astronomical increases in petroleum prices and utility bills, high school fees and the youth having no hope for the future because there are no jobs for them, he said adding Ghanaians are really suffocating under the NDC government and the time had come for them to boot out the present government and bring back the NPP to continue with its good governance. We were able to implement the mass spraying cocoa exercise which did not only give jobs to people but more importantly increase cocoa production from about 300,000 tonnes a year to about 1 million tonnes per year and now President Mills government is greatly benefitting because the world price for cocoa is also at a record high, he said. Nana Addo said when voted into power he would definitely continue with the good policies introduced by former President Kufuor, help boost agriculture and improve the lot of farmers. He explained that apart from his major promise to make education at the senior high school level free, he would invest a lot in agriculture to help farmers earn more money and boost the countrys foreign earnings. I am not here to say I will reduce petrol prices or utility bills and give other vague promises as Prof Mills did but my pledge to Ghanaians is that secondary school education under my government will be free so that parents can heave a great sigh of relief and also boost the prospects of all junior high school graduates. I promise Ghanaians effective leadership that will come with better standards of living, he indicated. The Member of Parliament for New Juaben North and former minister in the Kufuor administration, Hackman Owusu-Agyemang said Ghanaians can now see the difference between a good and bad government. President Kufuor provided visionary leadership; so will Nana Akufo-Addo because I have known Nana Akufo-Addo since 1960 when we were students and I can vouch that he will never condone corruption or any wrongdoing under his presidency as it is happening under Prof Atta Mills, he said. The NPP parliamentary candidate for Fanteakwa, Kofi Okyere-Agyekum popularly called Arafat said he had set up a trusted campaign team which would be well-resourced to beat the NDC convincingly in the constituency. We have procured two brand new pick-ups and 15 motorbikes for our campaign especially in the rural areas because they would need more education on the bad leadership of the NDC, he said adding their target is to improve the partys votes in the constituency from the current 20,000 to more than 30,000. We are very focused and determined to do that to help increase Nana Akufo-Addos chances of becoming the next president of Ghana, he added. At the launch, Fanteakwa constituency executive members of NAFOP (Nana Addo for President) were also outdoored.
