Military Officers Visit Jubilee Field

Rear Admiral Matthew Quashie, Chief of Naval Staff, has stated categorically that the Ghana Navy would ensure maritime security at the Jubilee Field. He indicated that the Ghana Navy, which was the hub around which the countrys maritime security revolved, noted that the security of the Jubilee Field should not be compromised. He mentioned that the Navy provided security at the Jubilee Field by deploying personnel offshore, adding, This explains why we have recently taken delivery of four naval ships to augment our fleet and enable us deploy maximum security around the Jubilee Field and the countrys maritime zone in general. Rear Admiral Quashie disclosed these in an interview with journalists after he and other senior military officers, including Brigadier General Mishio, Commodore BF Asante, Naval Capt. Eric Adu and Sub-Lt. Seth Anthony Dzakpasu, toured the Jubilee Field. The visit, which was the first by high-ranking military officers since the arrival of the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) Kwame Nkrumah in May 2010, afforded the officers an opportunity to familiarize themselves with operations at the Jubillee Field. The Senior Military Officers were given a panoramic view of the Jubilee Field and they obtained first-hand information about activities there. Joseph Klemesu, General Manager of Tullow Ghana Limited for Takoradi remarked that For us as a company, this is a most welcome visit because personnel of the Ghana Navy, in particular, are our partners in many ways. They provide security for the Jubilee Field including the subsea infrastructure, FPSO Kwame Nkrumah and other facilities and we cherish our relationship with them.
