Maxwell Konadu Not Surprised By Kotoko Progress

Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu is least surprised at the progress made by his side in the Glo Premier League. Many doubted the ex Ghana internationals ability to succeed when taking over the coaching reigns of the Ghanaian giants following the departure of Serb Bogdan Korack at the beginning of the campaign. Rather, Konadu, 39, has impressed so far leading his team to the summit if the Ghanaian topflight with a healthy seven point gap with twelves games left to run. The former All Stars coach however says he is not surprised by the no mean feat chalked so far - mindful of the fact he could be the next coach to deliver the elusive Premiership title for the Porcupine Warriors in over four years. One thing I knew when coming to Kotoko was that we were going to be one of the strong challengers for the Premier League title this season and my belief was further strengthened when we played our pre-season game with Hearts of Oak in the Super 2, he told GHANAsoccernet.com. We realized we had a good players and the biggest challenge was how to merge them into a good team which I think we have to a large extent been able to achieve. I am therefore not surprised with Kotokos rise but rather very happy that we have managed to knit a very solid team here capable of winning the league title. The Porcupine Warriors with their young coach will get the chance to make more strides in their bid to win the Premier League title when they host the ever-improving All Stars this weekend at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
