Ill File Contempt Charges Against NPP Members...But Not NDC

An Accra-based Lawyer and member of the Legal team of embattled financial engineer, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, has served notice that he will soon be heading to the courts to file contempt charges against some commercial radio stations in the country and other functionaries of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). Lawyer David Annan believes quite a number of people have made and continue to make prejudicial statements in the Woyome judgment debt saga, notwithstanding the fact that the case is still in court. He revealed that he has been compiling a list of people who he thinks have erred on the side of the law by passing judgment in the Woyome, adding that such people will soon have their day in court. He, however, adds that members of the ruling NDC who have made adverse statements against Mr. Woyome will not be joined in the suit because he does not want to antagonize his own party. Speaking in an interview on Okay FMs Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Lawyer David Annan who is also a member of the Legal Team of the NDC said it is surprising that people are willing to flout the law by publicly dissect the case. According to him, there have been several instances where some people have gone to the extent of referring to the NDC guru as a thief even though the court has not pronounced him so and mentioned that NPP firebrand and MP for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong. Ive been talking about filing contempt charges for about a month now and I have not filed it yet because each time Im ready to file, someone else makes comments which are prejudicial. So I have been making a long list of people I am going to file contempt against and it will involve some people from the NPP, especially Kennedy Agyapong and some radio stations. I think the list is too long now so I have to file for the contempt so will do so by next week Friday, he threatened. Touching on the recent gargantuan statement issued by the immediate-past Attorney-General Martin Amidu on the case involving embattled businessman Alfred Woyome voicing disappointment in the legal representation of the State in the ongoing GhC51 million judgment debt payment, David Annan described the statement as prejudicial and expressed pleasant surprise that Mr Amidu) was willing to go on that tangent.
