Blame Late Arrival Of Dignitaries For Collapsing Kids On Independence Day - Educationist

A retired Educationist, I.K. Gyasi, is calling for the strict adherence to time if school children are to partake in the march-pass during Independence Day parades to avoid cases of collapsing students and security personnel. According to Mr. Gyasi, children marching on Independence Day should not be a cause for alarm if dignitaries expected for the day arrived on time before temperature rises. About 123 people were reported to have collapsed across Ghana during the 55th Independence Day parade nationwide. Citing an example where one of the parades started well over an hour after the starting time, Mr. Gyasi said the blame should be placed on the perennial shortcomings of attending functions late. If you let a child stand in the sun for over two hours before starting the march-past, of course such tragedies will happen. We should not blame the parade, it should simply start on time, he opined. The retired educationist added children who go to the parades must also be fed, which he said was the prime responsibility of parents.
