Professor Thomas Kwadwo Djang-Fordjour, the Rector of the Sunyani Polytechnic, has called on students to abide by the rules and regulations of their respective institutions
He said they need to learn by going through the processes in life as there are no short cuts.
Prof. Djang-Fordjour said this during the 20th matriculation ceremony of the Polytechnic on Tuesday.
A total of 1,684 new students consisting of 1,140 males and 543 females were admitted to pursue both tertiary and non tertiary programmes for the 2015/2016 academic year.
The tertiary level students were 1,341, comprising 929 males and 412 females whilst 279 students, made up of 212 males and 131 females were admitted for the non- tertiary programmes.
Prof. Djang-Fordjour urged the students to obey the statutes and regulations of the Polytechnic and insisted that they must also dress decently so as to enjoy their stay in the institution.
He said the Polytechnic wouldd protect and support students who are law abiding and disciplined and would not hesitate to apply the expected sanctions on those who foment trouble.
Prof. Djang-Fordjour entreated the students not to disappoint their parents after such great investments have been made in them and endeavour to study hard to achieve the primary objective of successful completion of their respective programmes.
