The Deputy Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency, Dr. Yaw Osei-Adutwum has damned the naysayers of free SHS policy of the NPP government.
Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he emphasized that the ministry have put in measures to ensure the successful implementation of the programme.
He added that despite some concerns raised by some schools, the ministry is taking steps to address all those problems.
He could not fathom why some people have decided to run the programme down adding that the ministry within the capacity will address all challenges affecting the programme.
He also added the ministry has provided enough food from the national buffer stock to cater for all the schools.
He has assured members of the public not to worry about the programme as they have put measures in place to address those challenges.
Challenges would be addressed- President
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that challenges confronting the free SHS policy will be speedily addressed by his government.
According to him, challenges such as inadequate number of classrooms, dormitories and science laboratories will be tackled by his government to ensure that the policy continues for the benefit of the Ghanaian youth.
He added that the challenges are to be expected as everything new has problems during the initial stages.
The president also dismissed claims that the introduction of the free SHS policy was motivated by political gains.
According to him, the policy is to ensure that every Ghanaian child gets the opportunity to further their education beyond Junior High School.
