The Ghana Police Service has denied placing Patrick Timbillah under ‘House Arrest’.
Reports received on Friday, 6th March, 2015 indicated that the Commissioner of Police (COP) and Director General in charge of Police Human Resource Development had been placed under house arrest over his alleged involvement in the recent police recruitment scam.
Even though Mr Timbillah has denied the accusations leveled against him, the police Service say he needs to step aside to avoid interference in their investigations.
However, speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi in an interview on Monday, Supt Cephas Arthur, Director of Police Public Affairs stated that Mr Timbillah was never under house arrest and that there was a ‘miscommunication’.
According to him, Mr Timbillah is rather under ‘interdiction’.
“There was a miscommunication…he is under interdiction and not under house arrest. This means even though he has the freedom to move around, it cannot be in the capacity of a police officer. He cannot wear his uniform” he indicated.
