Ahead of the sod-cutting for the Kejetia Redevelopment Project today, President John Dramani Mahama on Sunday paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu at the Manhyia Palace, where the two held a closed-door meeting.
President Mahama was accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah, some ministers of state and the Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr Kojo Bonsu.
Kejetia project
The Kejetia project is expected to give one of Africa's biggest lorry terminals a completely new look to befit the status of Kumasi as Ghana's second biggest city.
The $298 million project is being financed with a facility from the Brazilian government.
President Mahama has promised to see to early completion of the project to uplift the status of the Garden City and his presence to cut the sod gives credence to that pledge.
