A candidate writing the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) has died at New Akrade in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.
Fifteen-year-old Louis Ametepe, who was the boys’ prefect for the South Senchi Junior High School, died in the evening of Wednesday June 15 after he abruptly stopped writing his second paper and was rushed to the Akosombo VRA hospital.
According to an examination officer, who preferred to speak on anonymity to Class News, some of the supervisors observed the boy was sick and shivering during the papers on Tuesday.
He said on Wednesday, Ametepe came to the exam hall still sick and looking worse than he was on Tuesday, but insisted he wrote the paper despite attempts to get him to go for treatment.
According to the source, Louis' condition grew worse while writing his second and last paper for the day and invigilators compelled him to leave the exam hall for the house.
The late Louis went home to meet his parents, who then rushed him to the hospital, but he died later.
Meanwhile, Class News has gathered that Louis’ parents have reported the matter to the Akosombo Police for investigations.
