The Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah has called on farmers in the country to plan towards taking advantage of the District Mechanization centres to be set up under the Green Revolution which President Mahama plans to introduce when he wins the December 7th 2016 election to extend his mandate.
The Chief of Staff made the statement today when he addressed the 32nd Volta Regional Farmers Day at Kpeve in the Kpando Municipality.
Under the Green revolution, he said agriculture will be given massive boost thereby promoting the well-being of farmers in the country.
Mr Julius Debrah commended farmers for their hard work and contribution towards the growth of the economy .
The Volta Regional Minister Hon Helen Adjoa Ntoso said the theme for the National farmers Day which is "Agriculture : a business response to economic growth "cannot be over emphasized.
She said the government of President Manama is committed to supporting agriculture in the country to continue to serve as the backbone of the economy and commended farmers for their hard work.
Mr Eric Jiagge was adjudged the overall best Volta regional farmer whilst Mr Bright Botsi Selorm got the overall best farmer in the Kpando Municipality.
