Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome is not happy with the attitude of the current crop of journalists as regards respect for authority and patriotism in general.
He said in his practice of the profession some time ago, respect for authority, the president to be precise, was paramount.
Addressing media practitioners over the development with his GH¢51.2 million judgment debt on Friday, November 18, Mr Woyome did not mince words in relaying a piece of advice to his audience.
“Please journalists, I have done this work before,” he interjected after he was asked a question over a supposed threat he issued the president in case the five-year old tussle is not discontinued.
“I ended sometime ago as the Deputy Editor of [a] Magazine published outside. Please, there is something about the practice.
You should make sure that if you are a Ghanaian whether you like the president or you don’t like him, that is your dignity.” ‘Chewing stick’ He was worried some journalists, and by extension Ghanaians, do not accord the president the due respect.
Mr Woyome said some have turned the president into a “chewing stick”. “I disagree with people who are chewing the president of Ghana like a chewing stick.”
The latest Supreme Court decision on his judgement debt legal battle granted a former Attorney General, Martin Alamisi Amidu, permission to orally examine Mr Woyome.
This has been scheduled for next Thursday.
