The Ministry of the Interior Monday announced that Christmas Day - Monday December 25; and Boxing Day - Tuesday, December 26, should be observed as statutory public holidays throughout the country.
This was contained in a statement, signed by Mr Ambrose Dery, the sector Minister, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.
Christians throughout the world mark the birth of the founder of their faith, Jesus Christ, on December 25, while the following day is used as a ceremonial day for opening boxes of presents.
Ghana’s latest Population Census put the Christian population at 71.2 per cent.
