The Tamale North Member of Parliament Alhassan Suhuyini has revealed that he was the only member of the appointment committee hat voted against nomination of Martin Amidu as special prosecutor.
This is contrary to the reports that the committee unanimously approved Mr Amidu’s nomination after the seven hour vetting.
In an interview on personality profile on Accra-based Joy FM, Mr Suhuyini explained that even though the citizen vigilante qualifies to occupy the office he is simply not suitable.
“With the vetting of Martin Amidu, all minority members on the committee voted for him, all majority members voted for him but I voted against him. I think that he’s very competent for the office but I don’t think he is suitable,” the lawmaker stated.
However, Mr Amidu believes he is he right person to occupy the Office of the Special Prosecutor since he has been a very meticulous man throughout his public office life “and that is why if you want anybody who will be meticulous in investigating and prosecuting, the president has made the best choice for you.”
Mr Amidu made the comment when he appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Tuesday, 13 February.
He, thus, told the committee that “if you want anybody who will look the other way, just disapprove me”.

Well, if its me its suitable but someone else, no no no and big no. Ghana for you
Who cares about an arrogant, irrelevant and self-righteous arssse-hole of an MP. Who cares? Nobody cares about your childish tantrums and skewed line of political thought. But remember that you are listed as one of the recipients of the Woyome criminal kickbacks!!!!!
Arrogance, inferiority complex but ironically empty that is the description of SUHUYINI. Woyome money is another factor. Small boys are young.
Suhuyini may not tell the truth. He might be lying and hiding the truth. The truth of the matter is that he is cited as one of the NDC members who got a share in Wayome create loot and share corrupt money. Knowing very well the the passion of Martin Amidu to retrieve Wayomie money, Suhuyini cannot help byt to vote against Martin Amidu's nomination. He is thretened by the shadow cast by Martin. He knews very well that Martin would not compromise in anything. It was no point for him to pretend to like Martin who cannot be flatted in anyway.
the only consistency in this minority is their inconsistency.
@ Jack, you are not well informed. Even if half a human being votes against a nominee renders the verdict unanimous. Suyuhini's argument is that even though the nominee is competent for the job but he is not suitable. This is simple English language.
Suhuyini's vote against Mr. Martin Amidu did not prevent him (Mr. Martin Amidu) from becoming the Special Prosecutor. Therefore he didn't achieve anything by voting against him. He didn't even ask any intelligent questions during the vetting so his inclusion in the appointment committee was needless.
It's still a unanimous decision because the votes of people of his kind do not count.
